Drainage Services for the Newell Highway – New Dubbo Bridge Project

Client: Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure
Project: Newell Highway – New Dubbo Bridge, Macquarie River, NSW
Scope: CCTV Inspection, Asset Mapping, Jet-Vac Cleaning, Condition Reporting
Contractor: Draintech Solutions Pty Ltd
Date: 2025

The New Dubbo Bridge project—an essential infrastructure development spanning the Macquarie River—required expert drainage inspection, defect identification, and environmental sensitivity. Draintech Solutions was engaged by Abergeldie to deliver high-standard drainage services throughout the project lifecycle, from early asset condition surveys through to post-installation inspections.

Operating in floodplain terrain with strict environmental protocols, Draintech Solutions played a critical role in supporting the safe and timely delivery of this high-profile regional project.

SCOPE OF WORKS
1. CCTV Pipeline Inspection and Reporting

Draintech Solutions deployed its advanced CCTV robotic camera systems to inspect stormwater pipelines ranging from 40mm to 2100mm+ in diameter. These inspections included:

  • Pre-construction dilapidation reports of existing pipelines.
  • Final verification surveys of newly installed assets.
  • Detection of cracks, joint displacements, and foreign debris.

All data was compiled into WinCan-compliant condition reports and high-resolution video logs, supporting real-time engineering decisions.

2. Stormwater Asset Mapping

By leveraging GIS-based mapping tools, Draintech Solutions developed accurate digital records of the stormwater network. This provided:

  • Long-term reference points for future works.
  • Asset traceability for project engineers and maintenance teams.
  • Spatial alignment with bridge and road layouts.
3. Jet-Vac Drain Cleaning with Recycling Technology

Where debris was encountered, Draintech Solutions mobilised its state-of-the-art Jet-Vac Recycler Unit. This enabled:

  • Onsite water recycling for continuous operation.
  • Environmental compliance by minimising water runoff.
  • Time-efficient pipe clearing ahead of CCTV inspections.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND SITE CONSTRAINTS

Working across floodplain terrain near the Macquarie River introduced environmental risks. Draintech Solutions:

  • Avoided cultural heritage areas and sensitive zones during off-road operations.
  • Implemented water containment controls to prevent runoff into the river system.
  • Coordinated closely with environmental supervisors before, during, and after works.
INTEGRATION WITH ABERGELDIE AND PROJECT STAKEHOLDERS

Draintech Solutions maintained open communication and flexible scheduling with Abergeldie and other contractors throughout the project. This included:

  • Rapid mobilisation of equipment and personnel in response to project needs.
  • Onsite collaboration with engineers and pipelayers to resolve issues identified via CCTV.
  • Strategic scheduling of drain cleaning ahead of inspections to maximise efficiency.
TECHNOLOGY AND QUALITY COMMITMENT

Draintech Solutions consistently applied industry-best technologies and processes:

  • Robotic cameras with laser measurement capabilities.
  • WinCan software for reliable digital reporting.
  • Standards aligned with NATA accreditation and ISO-compliant systems.

Each project—regardless of size—is delivered with the same level of care, quality, and professionalism, and the New Dubbo Bridge was no exception.

PROJECT OUTCOMES

Draintech Solutions helped ensure the long-term performance of critical stormwater infrastructure supporting the New Dubbo Bridge. Outcomes included:

  • Preventative identification and resolution of drainage issues.
  • Environmentally safe work practices across sensitive terrain.
  • Reliable asset data to support the project’s ongoing maintenance and operational resilience.
