Scope: UV Lining works of mainline stormwater drainage infrastructure

UV lining of mainline stormwater drainage infrastructure, including preparation of pipelines, installation of UV-cured liners ranging from standard to large diameters, and final CCTV inspection to ensure structural integrity, flow restoration, and long-term performance in a high-demand industrial environment.
 
PROJECT OVERVIEW

Draintech Solutions was engaged by The Client to deliver specialist pipeline rehabilitation services for Woodside Energy’s Karratha Gas Plant (KGP) under Subcontract J8579-KLE082. This project was critical to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the Onshore Common Water (OCW) system, supporting one of Australia’s largest LNG production facilities.

The subcontract commenced in June 2024 and was scheduled through to May 2025, with works delivered under stringent safety, environmental, and quality management frameworks aligned to Woodside and Contract Resources’ requirements.

SCOPE OF WORK

Draintech Solutions was responsible for the following services:

  • Pipeline Rehabilitation & Relining
    • Installation of new pipe liners
    • UV curing of liners to achieve long-term structural reinforcement
    • Application of end seals
  • Glass Patch Repairs
    • Supply and installation of pipe repair patches using approved products
    • Remediation of defects identified during inspections
  • Inspection & Quality Control
    • CCTV inspection and reporting using high-resolution robotic systems
    • Verification of rehabilitation effectiveness and compliance with engineering standards
  • Documentation & HSE Compliance
    • Provision of all project documentation including quality records
    • Adherence to Woodside’s extensive HSE procedures and fatigue management standards
PROJECT CHALLENGES
  • Remote Location & Logistics – Mobilisation from Sydney to Perth, and onto Karratha, required careful coordination of personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Stringent Safety & Environmental Standards – Works were carried out under Woodside’s Health, Safety, Environment & Quality procedures, including cyclone planning, process safety management, and pollution control requirements.
  • Critical Infrastructure Environment – All works were undertaken within a live LNG plant, requiring high levels of coordination with Contract Resources and other subcontractors to ensure operational continuity.
